    How Do I - Report
  • You can complete a Complaint Intake Form via the new Camino portal or email Code Enforcement, and someone will get back to you regarding your concern. As a reminder, please provide the complete street address or cross-street location, the type of complaint (i.e., falling fence, high grass/weeds, illegal dumping), and any other information that may be helpful to the Code Compliance Officer. As always, you may call Code Compliance at 972-838-1089 and leave a detailed message if the Code Compliance Officer is unavailable.

Police employees are carefully selected and given the best training available in order to provide professional service. However, you may have occasion to lodge a complaint in reference to the actions of a member of the Melissa Police Department. In order to be responsive to you, we are providing the following guidelines on how complaints should be made, how they are investigated, and their results

    How Complaints Are Made

    Any person wishing to make a complaint may do so by coming to the Melissa Police Department between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The Police Department is located at:

    Public Complaint Process

    Texas State Law (Government Code 614.022) requires that all complaints against police officers be in writing and signed by the person making the complaint. Just as citizens who are arrested must be notified of the charges against them, police officers must be given copies of complaints before any disciplinary action may be taken. The person who claims to be aggrieved must make the complaint. Other persons involved in the incident may give statements as witnesses. Learn more about the Public Complaint Process.

  • The Melissa Police Department offers a tip line for Melissa residents to use for non-emergency situations. The phone number is 972-838-2075 and callers are able to leave a message for the Police to follow up on their tip. This line is not for emergencies and In the event of an emergency or when suspicious activity or a crime is in progress residents should call 911 immediately. When calling the tip line, you should provide the following information:

    • As many details about the incident/activity as possible
    • The type of incident or activity to which you are calling about
    • Where and when the activity occurs, information on the person(s) committing the offense

    You may remain anonymous, however, if you wish to be contacted at a later time, please also include your name and telephone number so an officer may contact you directly.

  • The City of Melissa is served by two primary companies that manage the electrical infrastructure (such as power lines) in our community. Should you experience a service outage or encounter a street light outage, you will want to report the outage directly to the appropriate electrical providers.
