Our Mission: "Fire Safety Saves Lives"
We aim to prevent both accidental and intentional fires through education and engaging performances with our fire clowns. By raising awareness and promoting fire safety, we work to reduce injuries and save lives in the City of Melissa.
What We Aim To Achieve
- Educate children about fire safety through entertaining and informative skits with a serious message.
- While our performances focus on children, we also strive to teach fire safety to adults—there's always something new to learn!
- Continuously improve our shows and training to stay updated on current emergency situations in Melissa.
- Develop additional opportunities to spread fire safety education throughout the City.
Fire Clown Training
In 2024, some of the Melissa Firefighters had the opportunity to attend the Characterization & Risk Reduction Conference in Bullhead, AZ. The conference provided invaluable training, teaching them how to incorporate puppetry into their performances, write songs, and develop scripts and sets for future shows. They also gained hands-on experience with audio and sound techniques, enhancing their overall presentations.
Safety Topics
The Summer Fire Clown Show focuses on "Swim Safety." The show will teach important water safety lessons using the acronym B.A.L.L.:
- Buddy: Always swim with a friend.
- Adult: Make sure an adult is supervising.
- Life Jacket: Wear a life jacket in open water.
- Look before you leap: Check the water for depth and obstacles before jumping in.
Fall Shows includes bicycle safety: be smart, cooking safety, smoke detectors: make them work for you, and 911 tips for kids.
