The City of Melissa Finance Department is responsible for:

- Capital Improvement Project Tracking
- The Management of the City's Financial Affairs
- Payroll Processing
- Revenue Collections
Our commitment in all accounting and finance functions is to manage the City's resources in an efficient, effective, and responsible manner. We have received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award every year from 2008 to 2009 in recognition of our effort to report responsibly and thoroughly. Our City Council has adopted Financial Policies that our budget and services are built upon.
We have also converted our Annual Report to a Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and begun receiving the GFOA Excellence in Financial Reporting Award in 2009 and each year since.
Budget Presentation Award
The City of Melissa has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association from 2008 to 2009. The award is given to local governments that have succeeded in preparing a high-quality budget document.
Certificate of Achievement
The City of Melissa received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for Fiscal Year beginning in 2009 and each year since. The award is given to local governments that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
