Residential Trash and Recycling
WasteConnectionsGarbage and Recycling Collection are provided by the contract services of Waste Connections (formerly Progressive Waste Solutions).  Waste Connections currently services City of Melissa residential customers weekly on Wednesdays for both trash and recycling.  Additionally Waste Connections offers a complimentary monthly bulk pickup for City of Melissa residential customers.  

All Commercial Solid Waste Service is billed directly and must be setup with Waste Connections at (469) 452-8000.

Residential Services

New residential services must be setup through the City's Customer Care Partner FATHOM at (855) 266-4941, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  If there is not a trash and recycle cart at the residence when you move in, you require an additional cart, or your cart becomes damaged, please contact the Utility Billing Department at (972) 838-2035 or  Please note that all new poly-carts, poly-cart repairs, or extra poly-carts will be delivered on Tuesday of each week.

Senior Discount

The City of Melissa has partnered with Waste Connections to offer a Senior Citizen Discount for garbage and recycling services for residents age 65 or over! 
  • How to Apply: Please return the application for senior discount along with a copy of your drivers license to You can also return the application and your drivers license by fax to 972-837-4394 or in person at 3411 Barker Avenue, Melissa, TX 75454
  • Savings: Any senior resident who submits the application along with a copy of his or her drivers license and who has one (1) set of garbage and recycling carts will receive monthly garbage and recycling service for $13.37/month as opposed to $14.18/month. The additional garbage cart cost of $5.00/month remains the same for all residents.
