Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Current residential utility customers of the City of Melissa can now properly dispose of household hazardous waste! The City has partnered with the City of Frisco to bring you this service.  Residential customers may request a voucher from the City of Melissa’s Utility Billing Department to take to Frisco’s Environmental Collection Center to dispose of common household hazardous wastes.

How does the program work?

Melissa residential customers will need to visit the City of Melissa Utility Billing Department at City Hall (3411 Barker Avenue, Melissa, TX) during regular business hours in person to request a one-time voucher to use the City of Frisco's Environmental Collection Center (6616 Walnut St., Frisco, TX). Please bring your driver's license to obtain a voucher.

Environmental Collection Center Hours:

  • Summer Hours (Mar 1 - Sep 30): Wednesdays, 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Winter Hours (Oct 1 - Feb 28): Wednesdays, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
How much does this cost?

Vouchers for most types of approved hazardous waste (see below for approved waste) are free.

To help keep the program free and to save you time and gas, the City encourages you to partner up with your neighbors to pool together your hazardous waste for one trip to Frisco. Each voucher is good for one trip to the Environmental Collection Center.

There is a charge for the two e-waste items below. These charges must be paid by cash or check at the time of voucher pick up.
