FACILITIES UPDATE
Starting Wednesday, November 7. 2018 construction will begin on the Baseball/Softball fields at Zadow Park to renovate fields to turf. Construction fences will be going up around the fields to block them off along with the restrooms and concession stands during construction. Construction is anticipated to be completed by late February 2019 (weather permitting). During this time the fields, pavilion and restrooms will not be available to reserve. The playground, volleyball pit, and basketball courts will still be accessible. We appreciate your cooperation during this time and if you have any questions contact parks@cityofmelissa.com.

City Hall Plaza Park

Behind Melissa City Hall at 3411 Barker Avenue - The City Hall Plaza Park opened Summer 2016.
This space offers a vibrant gathering place for residents and visitors alike. The plaza will serve as the host of a number of community events and programs. The space features a large open pavilion (available for private gatherings), walking paths and a central water feature/spray fountain for children (and children at heart) to enjoy on a warm summer day or watch a colorful light show as you chase the streams of water at night. The water feature operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

This ornamental park is the next step in creating the Town Center, an area envisioned by City leaders to be reminiscent of a downtown square in an old Texas town, with City Hall in the center flanked by public plazas, and two-story office, retail and residential uses in surrounding blocks. This project reflects the City Council’s strategic goals of beautification and fostering connections through an open space for the community to gather and experience the small town feel that is unique here in Melissa.
