NTMWD ANNUAL WATER MAINTENANCE PERIOD UNDERWAY
MELISSA, TX— MELISSA (March 7, 2024) Residents of Melissa may notice a temporary change in the taste and smell of their water throughout March. This is due to routine maintenance by our water supplier, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD).
While the taste and smell may differ, rest assured, the water remains safe to drink.
During this time, you can minimize the change by refrigerating water overnight or adding a slice of citrus. For bathwater, consider adding a crushed 1,000 mg vitamin C tablet to neutralize chlorine.
NTMWD's maintenance involves using chlorine alone, which may affect the water's taste and smell temporarily. However, this is a standard procedure to ensure water quality and safety.
By April 1, the taste and smell will return to normal.
NTMWD conducts hundreds of tests daily in a state-certified laboratory to ensure water safety. Monthly and annual water quality reports are posted online, including results of tests conducted during the annual system maintenance.
