Rain Water Harvesting & Rain Barrel Construction Seminar

Join the Melissa Public Library on Saturday, February 4th at the Melissa Fire Department, Training Room, 2nd Floor as we learn the basics of rain water harvesting from a Collin County Master Gardener, Sheri Twiggs. The seminar is free, but register so we have chairs! 12:00-2:00 p.m. Hands-on rain barrel construction, with materials provided for $47 per barrel; includes barrel and parts. The 2011 Melissa Public Library Ornament Now Available!

The Melissa Public Library will again commemorate a city location with a lovely holiday ornament. For 2011, the Melissa Marquee Sign at Melissa Road will be recognized. Start your collection now, come in and also get the 2010 Melissa City Hall ornament. $7 each or 2 for $12. All donations go to the Melissa Public Library. The Melissa Police Department Announces Creation of a Telephone Tip Line

The Melissa Police Department tip line is now active and is for Melissa residents to use for non-emergency situations. The phone number is 972-838-2075 and callers are able to leave a message for the Police to follow up on their tip. Visit the Police Department's Webpage for more information.

Melissa Hike and Bike Trail Construction Underway!

The project along Fannin Road and Melissa Road between US 75 and SH 5 is underway with a scheduled duration through April 5, 2012. City of Melissa Home Rule Charter Officially Approved

The results for the Home Rule Charter Election held November 8, 2011 have now been officially canvassed by the City Council and the City of Melissa is officially a Home Rule City after the Home Rule Charter passed with over 76% of the vote. Stage 3 Water Restrictions Now in effect

Even though the rain has come, do not forget that Stage 3 Water Restrictions are still in effect. Residents are not to water their lawns more than once every two weeks and never in the rain. Visit the City of Melissa Water Conservation Webpage for more information on the restrictions.

Back to School Reminder: No Hand-held Cell Phones in School Zones

The Melissa Police Department reminds you that the use of hand-held mobile telephones are prohibited in school zones.
