Melissa City Council Honors City Staff for Public Service Recognition Week

Proclamation Public Service Recognition Week 2017Public Service Recognition Week has been set aside by the President of the United States annually since 1985 to honor the millions of public employees that provide a service to their communities. Throughout the country, mayors, governors, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations participate in recognizing these unsung heroes who do the work that keeps our nation, states, counties and cities working properlyPublic servants include: military personnel, police officers, firefighters, healthcare professionals, teachers, safety inspectors, social workers, laborers, computer technicians, court clerks, librarians, administrative professionals, and countless other occupations. Without these public servants at every level continuity would be impossible in a democracy that regularly changes its leaders and elected officials.

Public Service Recognition Week is about honoring our public servants and connecting citizens with their government.

Please join Mayor Greer and the City Council this week in thanking those public servants who serve and live in our community.
