Transportation Project Updates
The project updates are listed below for your information:
1) US 75 from Telephone Road to north of Melissa Road TxDOT project – Reconstruction and widening of US 75 from 4-6 lanes with an interchange at SH 121 and 2 lanes of frontage roads in each direction. The schematic design is complete. The environmental impact study is under review by TxDOT and is anticipated to be approved by Sept 2011. Final engineering, right of way acquisition, and utility relocation are scheduled to begin in 2012. Construction is set to begin in August 2012 with an estimated construction completion date of Feb. 2015.
2) SH 121 from SH 5 in Melissa to FM 455 in Anna - Public Hearing to be held November 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church Melissa at 6:00 p.m. TxDOT project – Reconstruction and widening of SH 121 to a four lane urban section (curb and gutter) through Melissa, then transitioning to a four lane rural highway through Anna. Project is funded with Regional Toll Revenues (RTR) of approximately $32 million. The environmental impact study is under review and should get approval from TxDOT to proceed to be scheduled for a public hearing by April or May of 2011. The anticipated construction award date for this project is November of 2012.
3) Outer Loop from US 75 to SH 121 between Melissa and Anna Collin County project – Construction of a 2 lane service road from US 75 to SH 121. Contract awarded to LH Lacy for approximately $9 million. Notice to proceed was issued on January 26, 2011. Contract term 546 calendar days. Contract completion date August 4, 2012. As of 2-28-2011: Trees and brush from within the roadway foot print have been removed from US 75 to SH5, subgrade work has been completed for a portion of the project, drainage improvements have been initiated including placing culverts for Throckmorton Creek and other areas; and excavation and shaping of the future drainage ditched for the site has begun. |
