City of Melissa Proposed Budget Now Available
The City of Melissa’s Proposed Budget for FY 2015-16 is now available for review. Additionally public input on the tax rate is welcome at the second Public Hearing on the proposed Tax Rate scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 6:00 p.m which will take place in the Council Chambers at the Melissa City Hall, 3411 Barker Avenue.  Click here for the full Public Notice.

Big Day at the Melissa Public Library - Saturday August 29
Drum roll please…..the announcement of the winners of the 5th annual Friends of the Melissa Public Library Photography Contest will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Melissa City Hall.  Come in that morning and share the unveiling of the winners and the incredible submissions by everyone. Also that morning, the announcement and presentation of the top three readers in three age groups of Summer Readers will be made.  Plus…Come enjoy lunch with In-N-Out Burger from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Friends of the Melissa Public Library will be doing a fun/food fundraiser with the burgers!

Consumer advocacy site, NerdWallet just released a study identifying the communities in the Dallas-Forth Worth region that offer the best conditions for buying your first home. Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau to assess value appreciation, housing cost, and prosperity and safety, they found that out of 93 places, Melissa is the fifth best city in the Dallas-Forth Worth area for first-time homebuyers.
